PMS recommendation · 2026

Best PMS for a boutique hotel

Boutique hotels typically run 20 to 60 rooms with a distinctive design identity, a guest experience closer to a luxury hotel than a B&B, and operations small enough that the owner or general manager makes the technology decisions personally. The buyer cares about brand expression in guest-facing screens, upsell capability, and staff ergonomics; raw cost efficiency is rarely the dominant filter.

What matters at this property type

  • A polished operator UI that does not feel like a 2010 enterprise system
  • Native or marketplace-grade upsell engine for room upgrades and add-ons
  • A booking engine that converts on a design-led property website
  • Modern guest messaging integrated with the PMS, not bolted on
  • Channel manager coverage for the OTAs that match the brand positioning

Recommended platforms

1

Mews

~$17/room/month source

API-first design-led PMS with a 1,000+ app marketplace. Built around independent boutique and lifestyle hotels; the operator UI quality alone justifies a shortlist spot.

2

Automation-first cloud PMS with native dynamic pricing and an upsell engine in the core platform. Strong fit for European boutique operators who do not have a dedicated revenue manager.

3

Apaleo

EUR 8/room/month source

Pure API-first platform at flat EUR 8/room/month. Suits boutique groups that have at least one team member comfortable wiring third-party apps and want to compose the stack rather than buy a bundle.

4

All-in-one platform when the boutique operation does not want to manage three vendors. Less stylish operator UI than Mews; broader integration breadth and global channel coverage.

A note about Guestivo

Guestivo is not on this list because Guestivo is not a PMS. Guestivo is a guest-journey platform (digital check-in, in-stay messaging, AI concierge, upsell, post-stay) that runs on top of whichever PMS the property selects. Once a PMS is chosen from the four above, the next decision is which guest-journey layer to pair with it; the /compare/ index covers that comparison. If you want to see how Guestivo compares for property types where it does fit, the comparison index is the right place.

Disclosure: this site is operated by Maciej Dudziak, founder of Guestivo. This page lists Guestivo only when it is genuinely a top-five fit for the property type; honest editorial policy.
