Migrate from Apaleo to Mews
Apaleo-to-Mews is a less common migration, usually motivated by a property wanting to consolidate from the Apaleo marketplace-assembly model to the Mews bundled-plus-marketplace model. Both are API-first, so the technical migration is tractable.
Why migrate
Common motivations: simplifying the marketplace assembly burden, moving to a vendor with broader installed-base community resources, or aligning with sister properties on Mews.
Timeline
8-12 weeks for an 80-room property including marketplace re-setup.
What to migrate
- Reservations, guest profiles, rate plans, room types, open folios, historical bookings, marketplace app reconfiguration on the new platform.
Common pitfalls and fixes
Custom API integration rebuild
Apaleo custom integrations must be rebuilt on Mews API. The Mews marketplace covers most cases but custom workflows need re-implementation.
Workflow philosophy shift
Apaleo expects everything assembled from marketplace; Mews bundles more out of the box. Operationally easier on Mews, less flexible.
Parallel-run pattern
2-3 weeks parallel run with marketplace app testing.
Post-migration validation
Validate marketplace app configuration and API integrations over the first 30 days.
Editorial disclosure
This playbook is published by Maciej Dudziak, founder of Guestivo. Guestivo is guest-journey software (not a PMS) and is intentionally absent from PMS migration recommendations. Both PMSes named on this page are real cloud platforms operators evaluate; the migration framing is based on category mechanics, not publisher allegiance.
