Cloudbeds

Cloudbeds is one of the largest cloud PMS platforms by independent-hotel installed base. The platform bundles PMS, channel manager (Cloudbeds Distribution), booking engine, and Cloudbeds Payments into a single subscription, which is the headline value for properties that want a one-vendor stack.

Target segment

Independent hotels, hostels, vacation rentals, and small groups in the 10-200 room range, with the strongest fit at 20-100 rooms where the bundled distribution and payments lift the most operational overhead.

Pricing

Pricing starts at roughly USD 15 per room per month for the entry tier; per-property monthly minimums apply. Cloudbeds Payments is bundled and charges per-transaction.

Strengths

Bundled channel manager

Cloudbeds Distribution ships natively and removes the need for a separate channel manager subscription for most properties.

Native payments

Cloudbeds Payments handles authorisation, capture, and refund inside the PMS folio without a third-party gateway integration.

Independent-friendly UX

The interface is built for small-team operations rather than enterprise complexity.

Active marketplace

A growing marketplace covers guest-journey, upsell, reviews, and accounting integrations.

Trade-offs

Less marketplace depth than API-first peers

For properties that want deep custom integrations, Apaleo or Mews offer more flexibility.

Engagement module additions can compound cost

The Whistle-based Cloudbeds Engagement module adds meaningful per-room cost on top of the base PMS.

When to choose

Choose Cloudbeds when the property prefers one-vendor bundling of PMS, channel manager, booking engine, and payments. Particularly strong for 20-80 room independents that do not have a technology partner managing custom integrations.

When to avoid

Avoid Cloudbeds when the operator has strong preferences for specific best-of-breed booking engines or guest-journey platforms and needs API-first flexibility.

Common integrations

Stripe, Adyen, Duve, Canary, Akia, Oaky, Revinate, GuestRevu, SiteMinder, Mailchimp.

After the PMS decision

The PMS is half the stack. The guest-journey layer (digital check-in, in-stay messaging, AI concierge, upsell, post-stay) is a separate decision that sits on top. For that decision, run the Guest-Journey Fit-Finder or browse the /compare/ index.
