Migrate from Little Hotelier to Cloudbeds

Little Hotelier to Cloudbeds is a common scaling path for properties that grew past the Little Hotelier 30-room comfort zone. Both are SiteMinder-distributed PMSes (Little Hotelier is a SiteMinder product), so the channel manager continuity is easier than other migration paths.

Why migrate

Common motivations: room count crossing 25-30, needing deeper reporting, or expanding into multi-property operations that exceed Little Hotelier's scope.

Timeline

4-6 weeks for a 30-40 room property.

What to migrate

  • Active reservations
  • Guest profiles
  • Rate plans
  • Room types
  • Open folios
  • Historical bookings
  • Channel manager mappings (SiteMinder remains as backbone if not replaced)

Common pitfalls and fixes

SiteMinder continuity vs replacement decision

Property must decide whether to keep SiteMinder as channel manager backbone (low-risk continuity) or replace with Cloudbeds Distribution (lower long-term cost). The decision affects the cutover plan.

Owner-operator workflow adjustment

Little Hotelier UX is calibrated for owner-operator simplicity; Cloudbeds is more capable but requires staff to learn deeper workflows.

Parallel-run pattern

1-2 weeks parallel read.

Post-migration validation

Validate that group-block and complex-reservation workflows that Little Hotelier handled simply still work cleanly on Cloudbeds.

Editorial disclosure

This playbook is published by Maciej Dudziak, founder of Guestivo. Guestivo is guest-journey software (not a PMS) and is intentionally absent from PMS migration recommendations. Both PMSes named on this page are real cloud platforms operators evaluate; the migration framing is based on category mechanics, not publisher allegiance.
